Take me out to the ballgame...

The beau went to school in Baltimore, so he's always eager to show off his college town. He had decided that going to an Orioles game was a must-do come spring (trade one art gallery visit for one sporting event). Spring has sprung so we decided to cross that one off the list....and so began an epic fail of an evening.

We rolled into B-more Saturday night and were flagged into a lot. We parked and looked around, quickly deciding that this wasn't an official lot at all, and I resigned to the fact that my car would probably be busted in some way by the time we came back. So we trekked across half of Baltimore to the stadium, arriving to find a ticket line that brought me back to Disney. We waited for an hour, not making it halfway up the line. ::drip::drip::drip:: Yep, it started to rain. Then thunder and lightning. It was already into the 4th inning and we were still in line... wet and deflated - we threw in the towel and headed back to the car.

Or so we thought.

We proceeded to spend the next hour wandering around some prime neighborhood of Baltimore before eventually finding the (not busted!) car. 'Hey, why are we walking in the street instead of the sidewalk?' Mid-question I flashed back to someone once telling me that in really bad areas you should walk in the street instead of the sidewalk because it's easier to see people coming to jump you. 'Beau - I realize you're a big dude and all, but I'm kind of easy pickins here.'

This should come as no surprise as I remember recounting our first date to friends as an "epic disaster of a first date". Good thing that in those kinds of situations we're both the people who keep laughing. Stuck on the metro for 2 hours for our first real conversation? Haha. Stuck in a traffic jam in Baltimore for 5 hours on one of our first outings? Haha. So stuck outside of Camden Yards and then lost in the hood of Baltimore in the rain is just par for the course.

So I finally made it to the notorious Camden Yards and all I got was this tshirt.

Sunday turned out to be a much better day - meandering around my old favorite - the Takoma Park Farmer's Market. Then walking around Rock Creek Park.
It was an impromptu walk, so neither of us were sporting the appropriate footwear. But it was still a beautiful walk - and this Florida girl was just in heaven with the warm temperatures and sunny skies.

Boys crack me up. Once they set their mind to something - all reason or logic goes out the window. Like when this boy decided that he was going to rinse his face and hands in the creek (obviously forgetting the pungent smell that had been wafting from the water when we first arrived). He managed to climb down and out without falling in; and even made it a few steps towards the car before 'aw man! this water smells like shit! now I smell like shit!' oh boys...

But they give us plenty of material to talk about when sitting around after class: sipping on some margaritas on a deck and laughing about all the funny intricacies of life.
