Uncle John's Bathroom Reader

Potpourri for 200, Alex.
I have a few pictures from the past few weeks as inconsistent as my posting. So consider this the bathroom reader post, or the reader's digest if you want to class it up a bit.

Spring Surprise (maybe not as fun as pickle surprise, but still a good time)
Even though Florida is tropical and warm, a large portion of it is more burned out than lush. Think more along the lines of Arizona than Aruba. So it's still a pleasant surprise for me to walk around DC and find bright patches of flowers and greenery.

I walk past this area of E at least a few times a week (it lies on the path between my employer and my favorite coffee shop) and it wasn't until the other day that I noticed this adorable circular ramp leading to a little park, with a semi-circle planter in front of it. I love that someone took the time to add details here - instead of an ugly ramp to code and a mulch box, it's a cute little space.
People are even conscious to bring those details into their house. I grew up in a busy household and all of my friends had busy families as well. So the concept of taking the time to get fresh flowers from the market to decorate your living room every week is quite foreign to me. People actually have time to do stuff like that? It's so interesting to walk around the hill and see these little historic homes, cared for by people who like to have parlors in the front and no tvs in sight. Maybe there is hope...

Gotta Love the Swine.
We found ourselves in Baltimore two weekends ago, partaking in three of my favorite activities: kicking back with a drink and some good friends, laughing a lot (mostly at myself after one particular incident during a heated game of Balderdash), and then going to the Baltimore Farmer's Market.

Kelsey and Sean pulled a superhero move by purchasing, assembling, and then cooking on a grill within the matter of like 2 hours. Keep in mind that this was a the peak of the swine flu pandemic. So we decided to celebrate swine flu with a little pork chop action. Mmmmm...swine.

Parties at casa-de-Sean and Kelsey mean a reservation on their couch and a visit to the Farmer's Market the next morning. This one was no different - and we made the rounds to the donut guy (OF COURSE) the bakery with the coffee, and the omelet guy. You might think you know a good omelet, but I challenge you to an omelet with potatoes all wrapped up in a tortilla. Oh yea, that's the stuff.

From time to time the market will have a singer, maybe with a guitar or a violin thrown in there. But this morning it was island time in downtown Baltimore with a full steel drum band. If we weren't very cold and very wet, this would have been awesome.

Drawing conclusions.
As the semester was winding down, we had a few more little exercises thrown in, like this staircase.

And I began work on my final

Here is the contour line drawing almost done.

Happy Graduation to A. Davis, Mr. President the second, Griffikins and all of our first First Years!!!

Can I live in that space? Thank you.

That reminds me of when the Orlando Opera used to host open houses at houses for sale - they'd bring in a different designer to design each room. It was usually a mansion - did you ever get to go to one of those? Soooo cool, you would have loved it.
