A favorite pasttime in my former life in Florida is adventuring with friend and coworker Sara, to the store or other location to pick up supplies for our latest project. Having started a program that involved us throwing a big event every Friday night (yea, we were gluttons for punishment), we often ended up needing loads and loads of supplies to turn the CUB circle into a Winter Wonderland (luckily the 4 tons of snow came via truck rather than via civic), the Forrest of Arden into a Margaritaville, and NightLites into a Middle Eastern restaurant. The catch was that we both had little two-door Hondas. I nearly pee myself even now thinking back to the time we had a 10-foot long 4 x 4 and stacks of lumber successfully loaded into my car, then 5'10 Sara crawled behind the driver's seat, straddled the 4 x 4, extended 3/4s of her body out the passenger window, then somehow ended up nuzzled into the front seat, cozying up to a nice piece of wood.
Inevitably I end up with a naysayer at IKEA thinking - there's just no way these three cartloads and three people are going to fit in there. But the civic always pulls through in a pinch!
This weekend's Design Within Reach show required me to take the big belt rack out to Georgetown with me, and I was hoping to avoid driving the boat (aka station wagon), so we loaded it in the civic with a bookshelf and all of the product to the tune of a few "are you sure that's going to fit in your car?"s and ... tada! It totally fit.
So I realize this is a completely pointless post. Finals are finally over as of last night, so more substantive posts soon! :)
